Ideally, however, essays on women should not just serve to inform; there is also a need for them to be inspirational and even transformational, if possible. How can this end be achieved?

For starters, these sort of essays should take a closer, not just a cursory, look at the status, condition, and the overall state of affairs of women. Doing away with superficial issues to give way to those that present a greater impact on their lives is definitely a much better thing to do.

For instance, one of the biggest challenges confronting women these days is the gender pay gap, where women are paid less than their male counterparts even if they hold the same job title and carry out the same responsibilities. This issue has been hounding members of the female workforce for the longest time, yet nothing concrete has been done to put a stop to it. Obviously, creating more awareness of this issue is going to be a great help in underscoring its urgency.

Another pressing issue is violence against women. Each day thousands, if not millions of women are routinely subjected to various forms of violence. The sad part is that violence against women has become such a frequent occurrence, so much so that many people get desensitized about it. Essays on women can serve as a useful instrument in highlighting the gravity of the situation, and in highlighting the need for immediate action.

But beyond these calls for action, it is just as necessary for these essays to provide both girls and women the tools and information they need to empower themselves. Empowerment is achieved by having an independent disposition, critical mind, and the will power to aim for higher things. When a girl or a woman is empowered, everything is possible.

Perhaps most importantly, essays on women should serve as a catalyst for change. As it is, there are a lot of challenges that confront women all over the world. It is virtually impossible to find a solution to these problems all at once, but every action rendered in addressing these issues, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant such action may be, is a step forward in the right direction.
